This person called my job and blocked their number. He left me a message saying his name is Michael Hunter and that he is the senior locator for the processing and summons division for the state of Florida. He said I needed to contact my case worker, Mr. Moss immediately about 2 fraud charges against me for writing bad checks and that need to serve me with a warrant. I did not call them back and did google search on this and saw it’s some kind of a scam. They have also called my job, but we have a call center who would not put the call through. He said I needed to call 1-888-978-4319 extension 147 and that my case number is 431-923
Crystal – It could be a scam or it could be a legitimate collection. They being detective sound suspect but to know for sure, you’ll need more information from them. For step-by-step instructions on how to deal with a collector when they call, this resource can help:
Cash advances are another short-term loan option that can help bridge the gap until payday arrives. You can apply in minutes and, on approval, the cash from your cash advance is deposited in your account as soon as the next business day.
The only insight we can offer at this point is that it’s very likely it’s a scam. If it was a legitimate collector, they would be violating many laws under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Thankfully, you did the right thing and did not fall for it.
The problem we’ve been looking at today is pretty straightforward: there are a lot of low-income people in the U.S. who has come to rely on a financial instrument, the payday loan, which is, according to its detractors, exploitative, and according to its supporters, useful. President Obama is pushing for regulatory reform; payday advocates say the reform may kill off the industry, leaving borrowers in the lurch.
When the giant Indian technology-service firm Infosys announced last November that it would open a design and innovation hub in Providence, the company’s president said one of the key reasons he chose Rhode Island was its strong network of higher-education institutions: Brown University, the Rhode Island School of Design, and the Community College of Rhode Island.
DUBNER: Obviously the history of lending is long and often, at least in my reading, tied to religion. There is a prohibition against it in Deuteronomy and elsewhere in the Old Testament. It’s in the New Testament. In Shakespeare, the Merchant of Venice was not the hero. So, do you think that the general view of this kind of lending is colored by an emotional or moral argument too much at the expense of an economic and practical argument?
Cash Advance® is not a lender and does not provide short-term loans but refers consumers to lenders who can provide such loans. For this reason, we will not be able to supply you with an exact annual percentage rate that you will be charged if you choose to accept an offer loan. The loan interest rates are determined solely by your lender, with specific amounts determined based on the information you submitted to the lender. Your lender offers the APR, loan fees, and other terms. For help in understanding and using our services, consumers may refer to the FAQ section or Contact Us.

I’m really scared. We got this phone call from this legal processing center accusing us the 2 charges with the state and both of them are felonies according to anyone who said on the phone. That we will be thrown to jail for 85 months if we do not take care of the money … It was for a check 570 and now all the fees added up to 970 and how our case was turned to the state that is why they they call us … that they can issue a warrant for arrest if we do not care of the money …
Thank you very much for this site and answer to me because after reading some people stories I called him back and ask more questions then told him that I would handle it in court that would not be getting any money from me and hung up about 1 hour later got another call from a different number saying that I would be receiving a summons for court these people are a big scam smh.
Ok I got a phone call today for my husband. I know he took out a payday loan 2 years ago and it’s with the people these guys claim they are collecting for. They want my debit card number so that my husband is not “served” and go to court or jail for check fraud. My question here is that they can even go for criminal action for a “fraud check” that was not even technically checked since it was all done online. Also, should I just pay them? They said they are Lincoln or the number is 877-607-5668 I have no problem resolving a legitimate debt but I do not want to get scammed either.
The Illinois Attorney General’s Office says the bogus debt collectors have heard about using various names, including: Morgan & Associates, Federal Bureau of Investigators, DNR Recovery, DNI Recovery, Legal Accounts Association, Department of Law and Enforcement, CashNet USA , American Legal Services, Quick Cash, and ACS. If you hear from any of these companies, be sure to report them immediately to your state Attorney General’s office and the Federal Trade Commission
summon at an address I did not live at for 8 years .. When I asked for proof of the original debt, she put me on hold … I waited for a 1
I’m glad to hear you are no longer panicking. Debt collectors can not have you hauled off to jail just because you can not pay your bills. What kind of debt is this? Do you have it Has this collection agency sent you anything in writing?

If your bank (banking) returns a debit entry to your bank account, then you must pay an additional return item fee of $ 15. We charge you only one return item per poster transaction no matter how many times the bank repays an item.
then the guy wanted to know why i took the advance out in the first place and why i have not paid on it. he said I was going to get charged with check fraud from across state lines since the company is out of state and when they tried to retrieve the money from my account the money was not there.

Other loan features can vary. For example, payday loans are often structured to be paid off in one lump-sum payment. Some state laws allow lenders to “rollover” or “renew” a loan when it becomes so that the consumer pays only the due due and the lender extends the due date of the loan. In some cases, payday loans may be structured so that they are refundable in installments over a longer period of time.
I too was a victim but never again. These fools still call me. Ronnie Cooper, David Cooper, John McCoy. Ph’s 987-928-2683, 909-503-0684,949-752-4600,958-489-0227 and 214-446-9831. Same old scam, I did not give that a red hundred !! FYI !! Please read this on MSN today. Do not let these people get to you !! Please be aware.
Be aware that some payday lenders have threatened garnishment in order to get borrowers to pay, even though they do not have a court order or judgment. If that should happen, you may want to seek legal assistance.
You are correct that you are required to give you the proof of the debt. Do you have a physical address for them? If so, you can write a letter and send it registered mail asking for written proof of the debt. If you are being taken to court, you will receive a “summary and complaint” by postal mail or delivered in person. It is a formal court document, not an email.
This new collection agency calls itself Robert Anderson Associates (ph: (844-260-5843) and they have purchased the old debt and claim that I now owe $ 2,300 for a loan that was originally $ 300 and paid down to $ 150. The man said that They would accept $ 311 today only. “Cindy” called back and said the same thing, threatening me with legal action and wage garnishment. When I told her that I wanted to get legal advice, she hung up.
