Just today a person who is calling himself Sam Johnson offered me a loan but wanted $ 185 dollars first. He keeps on blowing my phone up. Here’s the number for this person and they do not know that i know they are up to. The number is 1-347-408-0091. Get these people arrested before they rob more people who are gullible.
Some other academic research we’ve mentioned today does not recognize the role of CCRF in providing industry data – like Jonathan Zinman’s paper which showed that people suffered from the disappearance of payday-loan shops in Oregon. Here’s what Zinman writes in an author’s note: “Thanks to the Consumer Credit Research Foundation (CCRF) for providing home survey data. CCRF is a non-profit organization, funded by payday lenders, with the mission of funding objective research. CCRF did not exercise any editorial control over this paper. ”
A cash advance is a service provided by the most credit card and charge card issuers. The service allows the cardholders to withdraw cash, either via an ATM or over the counter at a bank or other financial agency, up to a certain limit. For a credit card, this will be the credit limit (or some percentage of it).
Ron – You sure should report this to your local law enforcement. There may not be a whole lot you can do but it’s important to file a complaint. (You can also file a complaint with your state attorney general and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.)
Credit.com’s journalism is largely supported by an e-commerce business model. Instead of rely on revenue from display ad impressions, Credit.com maintains a financial marketplace separately from its editorial pages. When someone navigates to those pages and applies for a credit card, for example, Credit.com will get paid what is essentially a finder’s fee if that person ends up getting the card. That does not mean, however, that our editorial decisions are informed by the products available in our marketplace. The editorial team chooses what to write about and how to write about it independently of the decisions and priorities of the business side of the company. In fact, we maintain a strict and important firewall between the editorial and business departments. Our mission as a journalist is to serve the reader, not the advertiser. In that sense, we are no different from any other news organization that is supported by ad revenue.
of my ssn # and threatened to take me to court, but I have been ignoring his calls. Can you tell me if he really did anything. Thanks.
caller states they will be taking legal action, that the sheriff will be at my house or work place to serve me with papers. Knows my address and date of birth and employer. Says I owe $ 1,100.00. He says I can have my lawyer can him. He speaks with a foriegn accent and sounds exactly like the guy who called 2 months ago for another company threatening the same thing. I paid the debt last time I got SCAMED? The name the guy gave was Mr. Flood and number was 310-999-0442. Please help me !!
If you find some of the modern economic scenario, most people have at least one horse in every race, which makes it difficult to separate advocacy and reality. So let’s go where Freakonomics Radio often goes when we want to find someone who does not have a horse in the race: to academia. Let’s ask some academic researchers if the payday-loan industry is really as nasty as it looks.
Call went to my MIL’s house. Phone number was 877-334-5288. Said they needed me to call before 5 p.m. I called them, they started the whole laughter about I had an old payday loan and was going to be charged with frud, malicious intent, etc. I stopped the guy and asked for his company name and address and he hung up on me. LOL Think I’m going to call back and try again for the hell of it.

You are correct that you are required to give you the proof of the debt. Do you have a physical address for them? If so, you can write a letter and send it registered mail asking for written proof of the debt. If you are being taken to court, you will receive a “summary and complaint” by postal mail or delivered in person. It is a formal court document, not an email.
I’ve been calling for two months now that we’re going to sue me on 300 dollar case but was charging me 9000 for checking fraud missing on payments so they are tired and are going to serve me at my job and pick me up on this charge that have been brught before me to have never got a check book before online web site is making these aligation against me
He does not want direct bank transfer and does not want money orders as both will leave paper trails right to him. He just wants us to get a pre-paid debit card from the store and put the money on it.
‘S Eliana Johnson.
Tricia, I get about 3 of those phone calls a week. Just ignore them and you will find about 10 more “final warnings”. They will stop calling you once they realize that their scare tactics are not working. If they were really going to serve you they would just do it rather than call you on the phone and tell you first. I was served a summon from bill collectors on two occasions and I did not have a warning call from any of them.
Since the very beginning of our interactions with Mrs. Shank’s practice, the whole staff has made it intimidating and uncomfortable experience, as smoothly as possible for us. From our initial consultation with Dallas Anderson, to our many correspondence, via both phone and email, … Read More
That makes plenty of sense in theory. Payday lending in its most unfettered form seems to be ideal for neither consumers nor lenders. As Luigi Zingales, professor at the University of Chicago, told a group of finance professionals in a speech speech last year, “The effective outcome can not be achieved without mandatory regulation.” One controversy is whether the office, in its zeal to protect
her company would then move forward in garnishing my salary. If I accepted the settlement offer they would contact American Cash Advance and I would receive a paid in full letter from them. I have not received any such documentation. When I called Ms. Gilbert today to let her know I did not receive the pay in full letter from the original creditor she told me that there was nothing she could do – she did her job and that’s all she had to do and was not interested in helping me. I contacted her supervisor, Ms. Martinez (ext.260) and she told me she would look in the matter for me and return my call. I paid the amount that I was offered in the settlement because I did not want my employer to be contacted – even though I suspected this was a scam.
Recd a call from 877-269-0088 from Miss Rios stating that I had 5000 for a payday loan first of all you could not take that much money and the second of all if it was from 2 yrs ago and when I asked them to send docs They said they did not have I told them I do not pay anything unless I signed it and I have copies of it. They threaten to garnish my wages, they could not understand what they were from. Then just today I call from phone number 877-258-1188 from Miss Berry stating that my payment was not gone thru well duh not i did not have anything and she left me a msg to call her back in 2 days as she was going to garnish my salary fat I worked for the federal govt and they wld love to see this come thru talk about jail time i am lmao on this one already contacted authorities and changed bank accts BEWARE THEY ARE IDIOTS
According to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, or the CFPB – the federal agency that President Obama wants to tighten payday-loan rules – 75 percent of the industry’s fees come from borrowers who take over 10 loans per year.
I got this call at my job telling me to pay this payday loan. I took out. I never did. I consulted with my attorney and he said to her a scam because they have to send you something in mail. I never got anything. No court sum or anything. Beaver here is the phone number: (213) 260-9435
Funny thing is, they have a website but anyone can get a website these days. They are also listed in the BBB website with a C- rating. C- because of complaints. Their website domain is via GoDaddy. Now thats classy.
Creditors can not generally garnish your salary unless they take you to court and get a judgment first. Even then, there are restrictions on how much be garnished. I’m not sure of all the circumstances of your situation, but remember, a debt collector is required under the federal law to send you a written notice of the debt, and you have the right to request the verification of the debt if you dispute it. Any collector that will not abide by federal law is either a scam or can be sued for breaking the law.

I received several calls from a donna mitchell she gave me a phone number to call 877-882-2435 with a case # i call tehm tehy say the are NCR (National Check Resolution) i really do not belive them when they say they are come to my place of work or my home to serve me .. i know it dosen’t happen that way i have talked to my local police officer and he said not to worry about it. But this time they sound so real .. I know i owe the money but the amout they gave me is atrocious. I just missed one payment and now they want about 800.00 when i only borrowed 350 and i’ve been paying 37.50 since may .. the lady (lisa) said i really do not care if you just pay or i just just a I do not know that it’s really good, it’s really good, it’s really good .. so i’m a little concerned i do not want to ignore it but it all sounds so weird during the whole phone call wiht lisa she kept putting me on hold. she said they would file with the clerk of court for fraud by deception .. and will only let me pay by credit card. I told her I wanted them to send me a bill in the mail and she said they told her they tried to contact me by email .. can not send by mail. I asked by mail again and to send in in payment .. I’m not sure to send them money my gut feeling does not send it to them … but my concious i know i owe the money ..
And if you are sued by a creditor or collection agency, they must serve you with a notice of the lawsuit (this is usually referred to as a “summons and complaint”). They sue you for the debt; “Filing with the clerk of court for fraud by deception,” is meaningless.
The explanation for this is not simple, and a variety of economic jargon floats around the issue. But it’s all started with this: The typical payday-consumer loan is too desperate, too unsophisticated, or too exhausted from being treated with disrespect by traditional lenders to engage in shopping. So demand is what economists call price tax. As Clarence Hodson, who published a book in 1919 about the business of small loans, put it, “It is not possible for bargain to benefit with cupidity.” In its last financial year, Advance America, one of the country’s largest payday lenders, wrote, “We believe that the main competitive factor is customer service, rental, convenience, speed, and confidentiality.” You will notice it did not mention the price.
I also received a call from this fraud investigator but he named her morgan and she worked for the commonwealth of pa. Yeah right. He also said my debt was from 2008 from money and more and threatened me with 5 or 6 bogus charges. But what did you think I was looking for? My name was bc he knew unfortunately I have a misdemeanor record and tried to use that against me from when I was 18. These people really scare you into thinking you owe. The first time he called I got a payment about a year ago. Different person had called. It was a prepaid card thank God not my bank that I do not have the bank acct they reference anymore. I also live in pa and when I told him I knew it was a scam He said he could not wait to see me prosecuted. Nolegit company would talk like this. And the statute of limitation on debt is 4 years in fraud 2years my supposed loan was in 2008. As well as you tell them you know it’s a scam they flip. He told me I was gonna need a good attorney etc. If such charges were to be brought against someone I’m sure they would not wait 5 years. Still scared you when they call because you see what they are threatening to do to people. Do not understand how this happens to so many.
